You probably remember the flood that impacted the mid-Michigan area in May of 2020 after two dams in a four-dam system failed during an extreme rain event. Since that time, Four Lakes Task Force (FLTF) acquired the funding to restore and recover all four dams and lakes. It has blazed an engineering, regulatory and environmental path at a time where there is significant public policy focus on infrastructure. MLSA covered that disaster in our Fall 2020 issue of The Michigan Riparian magazine and recently hosted FLTF President, Dave Kepler at our 2022 conference to talk about the event. In October of 2022, FLTF is hosting an Engineering and Technical Symposium where attendees will glimpse the complexity of this restoration project, learn from the firms involved, and be able to talk to the experts responsible for restoring the four lakes and dams.

The keynote speaker is Liesl Clark from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. You’ll also hear from Dave Kepler, president of Four Lakes Task Force. See the full list of speakers here. Some of the exhibitors include AECOM, Central Michigan University, GEI Consultants, IEC, Merjent and Spicer Group.
