Lt Governor Garlin Gilchrist attended a meeting in Chelsea, MI and MLSA Board Secretary Lon Nordeen was able to ask him about ways his administration as well as DNR and EGLE might improve state water protection. The follow up comment to the initial question suggested pushing for a statewide septic regulations and state-funded matching for homeowners to upgrade their aging septic systems and wells, especially those around lakes, ponds, streams and rivers as other nearby states do.
