HABs Social Media Kit

Brought to you by Michigan Sea Grant!

Lake Associations have asked for social media and educational resources to share and Michigan Sea Grant has answered the call. You are now free to use materials in a Harmful Algal Blooms Education social media kit. The kit is located in this Google Drive Folder that’s available to anyone with the link, with images formatted separately for Facebook and Instagram, along with a document that provides suggested post text.

Users can feel free to build their own posts to accompany the graphics. Michigan Sea Grant suggests making sure the post repeats any text contained in the graphic, so folks with low vision/using screen readers can also access the information. As a bonus, this makes adding alt-text a breeze.

The kit provides the relevant text for each graphic and recommends adding one of the provided calls to action with a link to further resources.

Play around with the resources for your own Lake Association pages and groups. Tag Michigan Sea Grant and/or MLSA so we can see how it’s going (and answer any questions people might leave in the comments).
